How to use SVG to PNG

  1. Drop an .svg file onto the upload area, or switch to Paste code and paste the SVG markup.
  2. Set the output width in pixels, or choose a scale such as 2× or 4× of the SVG's own size.
  3. Leave the background transparent or pick a fill colour.
  4. Check the preview, then select Convert to PNG and download.

SVG to PNG features

Any output size

Because SVG is vector-based, it is rendered sharp at whatever resolution you ask for.

Width or scale factor

Type an exact pixel width or simply multiply the native size by 1×, 2×, 3× or 4×.

Transparent or coloured background

Keep transparency for logos and icons, or flatten onto a colour.

File or pasted code

Works with .svg files and with markup copied from a design tool or code editor.

Safe rendering

Scripts embedded in an SVG are never executed during conversion.

Local processing

Your artwork is not uploaded.

When to use SVG to PNG

  • Exporting a logo as PNG for a platform that does not accept SVG.
  • Creating high-resolution icons for app stores or presentations.
  • Producing social media images from vector artwork.
  • Generating 2× and 3× assets for high-density screens.

SVG to PNG FAQ

How large can the PNG be?

Up to 16,000 pixels on the longest side, subject to your device's memory. Vector artwork stays sharp at any size because it is redrawn rather than enlarged.

Why does my text look different in the PNG?

If the SVG uses a font that is not installed on your device and is not embedded in the file, the browser substitutes another font. Convert text to outlines in your design tool before exporting to avoid this.

Why are linked images missing?

For security, an SVG rendered this way cannot load external files. Embed images in the SVG as data URIs if they need to appear.

Is the transparent background kept?

Yes, by default. Areas of the SVG with nothing drawn are transparent in the PNG unless you choose a background colour.

My SVG has no width or height. Will it work?

Yes. If the file defines a viewBox, its proportions are used. If it defines neither, a default canvas of 300 × 150 units is assumed.

Vector versus raster

An SVG stores instructions: draw a circle here, fill this path with that colour. A PNG stores a fixed grid of coloured pixels. The first can be scaled infinitely without losing sharpness; the second has a set resolution and blurs when enlarged. Converting SVG to PNG, called rasterising, fixes the image at one size.

That is why the output size matters. Choose the largest size at which the image will be shown, and for high-density displays export at two or three times the layout size. Once rasterised, the PNG can be scaled down cleanly but not up, so keep the SVG as your master file and regenerate PNGs when you need a different size.
