PDF to Word features
Editable paragraphs, not text boxes
Lines are merged back into flowing paragraphs so you can edit, reflow and restyle the text normally.
Headings and emphasis preserved
Larger text becomes Word headings, and bold and italic runs are carried across.
Original page size
Each Word page uses the dimensions of the source PDF page, including landscape pages.
Exact-look mode
When appearance matters more than editing, export each page as a high-resolution image inside the document.
Private conversion
The PDF is read by your browser and never uploaded, which makes it suitable for contracts and personal records.
No watermark or page cap
The output is a clean .docx with no branding added.
When to use PDF to Word
- Updating a résumé or letter when you only have the PDF version.
- Reusing text from a report or white paper without retyping it.
- Editing a contract draft that was sent as a PDF.
- Pulling a long article into Word to add comments and tracked changes.
PDF to Word FAQ
Will the Word file look exactly like the PDF?
Not always. A PDF stores positioned text, not paragraphs, so layout has to be reconstructed. Straightforward documents such as letters, reports and articles convert well. Multi-column layouts, tables and forms may need tidying. If you need an identical appearance, use Exact page images mode.
Can it convert a scanned PDF?
A scan is a picture of text, so there is nothing to extract in Editable text mode. Run the file through the PDF OCR tool first to recognise the text, or use Exact page images mode.
Are images and tables kept?
In Editable text mode, pictures are not transferred and table rows are written as tab-separated text. Exact page images mode keeps everything visible because the whole page is embedded as an image.
Is the PDF uploaded to a server?
No. Conversion runs entirely in your browser. The file stays on your computer or phone.
Why does my PDF ask for a password?
Protected PDFs must be unlocked before they can be read. Use the Unlock PDF tool with the document password, then convert the unlocked copy.
Why converting PDF to Word is harder than it looks
A Word document describes structure: this is a heading, this is a paragraph, this is a list. A PDF describes appearance: draw these characters at this exact position in this font. When a document is exported to PDF, the structure is thrown away, which is why a PDF looks the same everywhere but is awkward to edit.
Converting back means inferring that structure from positions. This converter reads the text layer of each page, groups characters into lines by their baseline, and joins lines into paragraphs based on spacing, indentation and font changes. Text noticeably larger than the body copy is treated as a heading, and font information is used to restore bold and italic.
That approach gives an editable result for the documents people most often need to change. It cannot recover information that is not in the file, such as table cell boundaries or the original column flow of a magazine layout, so complex designs are best converted in exact-look mode or cleaned up afterwards in Word.
