Instagram Comment Picker FAQ
Why do I have to paste the comments?
Instagram does not let outside websites read the comments of a post without the account owner logging in through Meta’s business tools, and it forbids automated collection. Tools that ask for your Instagram password put your account at risk. Pasting keeps your account safe and works for every post.
How do I copy all the comments?
Open the post on instagram.com on a computer. Scroll through the comments, loading more until all are visible, then select them with the mouse and copy. For posts with thousands of comments, export them through Meta Business Suite or a comment export of your choice and paste the result.
What format should the lines have?
One entry per line. A line can be just a username, or a username followed by a colon and the comment. Other separators such as a tab, a comma or a dash are also understood, so most exports can be pasted as they are.
How does the tagged-friends rule work?
The tool counts the @mentions in each comment. With “at least 2”, a comment that mentions fewer than two accounts is not eligible. It cannot verify that the mentioned accounts are real friends, or that the entrant follows you; check that for the winner by hand.
Does Instagram allow giveaways?
Yes, under its promotion guidelines. You must state the official rules and eligibility, release Instagram from responsibility, and acknowledge that the promotion is not sponsored or administered by Instagram. Asking people to tag themselves in content they are not in is not allowed.
Is the draw fair?
Each eligible entry has exactly the same probability. The draw uses a cryptographically secure random source and a method that avoids the slight bias of simpler approaches. The summary shows how many entries were eligible and how many each rule removed.
A giveaway draw without handing over your account
Giveaways are a staple of Instagram: comment, tag a friend, and you might win. Running one fairly means collecting every valid entry and drawing at random. The collecting is the awkward part. Instagram protects comment data, and the only automated access it offers requires the account owner to authorise an app through Meta. Many “comment picker” sites ask for an Instagram login instead, which exposes the account to theft and breaks Instagram’s terms.
This tool takes the other route. You bring the comments, it does the draw. Nothing is requested from Instagram, no password is involved, and the text you paste is processed inside your browser. That makes it safe for any account, and equally usable for lists that never came from Instagram.
Rules turn a list of comments into a list of eligible entries. The common ones are built in. “One entry per person” stops repeat commenting from multiplying chances. “Tagged friends” keeps only comments with the required number of mentions. A required hashtag or word filters out ordinary comments. Excluded accounts remove the organisers. Decide the rules before the giveaway opens and write them in the caption.
After the draw, verify and announce. Check that the winner meets any condition the tool cannot see, such as following your account or living in an eligible country. Announce the winner on the post itself and contact them from your official account only. Remind followers that you will never ask for card details or fees: fake accounts copying the organiser are the most common giveaway scam.
