Payment Gateway Fee Calculator FAQ

Why does the fixed fee matter?

On small payments the fixed fee dominates: 0.30 on a 2.00 payment is 15%.

How do I make sure I receive an exact amount?

Use the “amount I want to receive” option, which divides by the remaining share after fees.

Are the rates built in?

No. Enter your provider’s current rates from its pricing page or contract.

Can I add the fee to my price?

Rules on surcharging differ by country and card scheme; check before charging customers extra.

Small payments, big fees

Payment fees look small as a percentage, but the fixed part makes low-value transactions expensive. Bundling small purchases or setting a minimum order can reduce fees.

The effective rate lets you compare providers with different fee structures on your typical payment.

All amounts stay on your device: the calculator runs in your browser, nothing you type is uploaded or saved, and the result updates as you change any field. The currency setting only changes how numbers are shown; no exchange rate is applied.

To keep a record, copy the main result with the copy button or note the breakdown shown under it. Reset brings back the example values, which is a quick way to see how the calculation behaves before entering your own figures.
